The Minnesota Historical Society and Minnesota Planning's Land Management Information Center have recently completed the conversion of nearly 2,500 historical timber survey maps dating from the late 1800's to a set of standardized GIS products. The resulting products can now be integrated with other data sets to compare and contrast the development of critical lands over time; to plan for the most effective replanting of native species of timber; and to assess the human impact on the environment. This poster illustrates the process used by staff to achieve the project's goals.
