As a forum for GIS communication and cooperation, the Mn GIS/LIS Consortium plays a multifaceted role in education by supporting GIS in K-12 and higher education, and by offering supplemental high-quality affordable learning opportunities via an annual conference and various workshop offerings throughout Minnesota. Through engagement with academia at all levels, the Consortium helps decision makers to optimize efficiency and improve planning by providing GIS tutoring and services while elevating  critical thinking, problem solving, and community engagement in issues with local or regional implications.
