As a service to the GIS/LIS community, the Consortium will list any user groups or Minnesota chapters of related professional groups known to us. Anoka County GIS User Group, Anoka County, MN
The group meets monthly at an Anoka County are location. The group consists of the county, cities, townships, school districts and utilities that are in Anoka County. ASPRS, Western Great Lakes Region
The Western Great Lakes Region of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) helps users of 'image maps' understand their origin and application. Current information and membership can be found at http://www.asprs.org/wgl.
Dakota County GIS Users Group
This group meets quarterly at the Western Service Center in Apple Valley. The group consists of the county, cities, school districts, SWCD and utilities that are in Dakota County. The group focuses on the potential uses of existing and emerging GIS applications and technologies as well as the use of local GIS data. Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA), Minnesota Chapter
The Minnesota Chapter of the GITA normally offers 2-3 technical meetings to members and non-members annually, and a scholarship program, among other activities. Goodhue County GIS Users Group
Members of this group meet monthly, pay annual participation fees, and collaborate on GIS projects. Members include the county, cities, and other agencies within Goodhue County such as the Prairie Island Indian Community. Hennepin County GIS Users Group
This group meets quarterly at various locations throughout Hennepin County. The Group's mission is to provide a forum for communicating ideas, resolving problems, and increasing the effectiveness of GIS use and Hennepin County's digital basemap data. Minnesota Non-Profit GIS User Group
Non-profits have unique needs and motivations when it comes to GIS and related technologies. This group brings non-profit GIS users together to learn from each other, develop synergy and explore partnership opportunities. There is no cost to join or participate. Northern Minnesota GIS Users Group
Formed to facilitate communication between people working in all areas of GIS in Northern Minnesota. It is open to anyone and is non-software specific. Pine to Prairie GIS User Group (former Outstate GIS User Group)
The Pine to Prairie GIS User Group has evolved from the former Outstate GIS User Group that was hosted by Otter Tail County GIS. Meetings are held quarterly and include informational and educational presentations, networking opportunities, as well as project and product demonstrations. Ramsey County GIS Users Group, Ramsey County, MN
Members of this group meet monthly, pay dues, and contract for GIS data updates, user guides, and other improvements. Members include the county, cities, townships, watershed districts, neighborhood groups, and school districtss, etc. They maintain links to the North Metro I-35W Corridor Coalition, Metro GIS, and other regional bodies. Rice County GIS Users Group - Rice County, MN
The Rice County GIS Users Group is comprised of GIS users from Rice County departments, cities within Rice County, and other organizations that use Rice County’s GIS data. The group consists of the County, cities, Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, private utility companies, MN/DOT, GIS consultants and a watershed district in Scott County. Southeastern Minnesota GIS Users Group
The Southeastern Minnesota GIS Users Group covers a geographic area including the 11 county region of the Association of Minnesota Counties (AMC) District #9 which includes Rice, Goodhue, Steele, Freeborn, Mower, Dodge, Olmsted, Wabasha, Fillmore, Winona, and Houston counties. All people interested in GIS technology are welcome. The Users Group meets every 2-3 months in different locations around the 11-county region. Topics of discussion include joint project opportunities, networking, data sharing, and GIS tips and tricks. Meetings will also include presentations by the host agency, product demonstrations, training sessions, and discussion of training needs. Southwest Minnesota GIS User Group
The group consists of various public and private entities in southwest Minnesota. The group meets quarterly at locations throughout the region. The host is selected at the previous meeting who then leads the next meeting with a presentation on a topic of interest.
