In the last few years, the Consortium co-sponsored several events to help accelerate understanding and cooperation in GIS/LIS activities. Modest contributions from the Consortium helped with a workshop on the National Standard for Spatial Data Accuracy, provided funding for free Minnesota access to a satellite down-link of a international videoconference on metadata, and supported a meeting on the Iron Range which explored new topographic data for the Mesabi and surrounding area. Your Consortium Board of Directors believes that co-sponsoring similar events, in addition to our annual conference and newsletters, is an excellent way for the Consortium to fulfill its mission to provide educational opportunities for the GIS and LIS communities. We would like to do more.
Consider this a Request for Proposals. What events or activities could you or your GIS group take on or sponsor with a modest grant from the Consortium? Grants could be used for workshops, short courses, honoraria for guest speakers, publications, or anything else that would be open to the GIS/LIS community. Submit a brief request for a modest Consortium contribution and explain how it would help promote the mission of the Consortium to provide educational opportunities for the GIS and LIS communities.
We look forward to having many requests to choose from. Mail your ideas to the Consortium address or e-mail to: email@example.com.
