FGDC CAP Grant Announcement

The Federal Geographic Data Committee has announced the tentative schedule and categories for the 2007 National Spatial Data Infrastructure Cooperative Agreements Program. The application deadline is January 19, 2007. The performance period will be March 2007 to March 2008. Detailed information about the announcement is available at www.fgdc.gov/grants/2007CAP/Tentative_2007CAPschedule.

Proposed 2007 NSDI CAP Schedule

October 20 - CAP announcement posted online at www.grants.gov. It is open for 90 days.
January 19 - CAP announcement closes.
March 1 - Announcement of selected proposals. Awardees are notified their award is pending.
March 25-29 - Kick-off at NSGIC Midyear Conference in Annapolis, Maryland.

Proposed 2007 NSDI CAP Funding Categories

Category 1: Metadata Trainer and Outreach Assistance
Lead - Sharon Shin
Up to $20,000 project award, 5 Projects, Category total $100,000

Category 2: Framework Client Development
Lead - Doug Nebert
Up to $75,000 project award, 3 Projects, Category total $225,000
Change of focus in 2007 to be more of a software development that will maximize market share.

Category 3: Fifty States Initiative
Lead - Milo Robinson
Up to $50,000 project award, 10 Projects, Category total $500,000
In 2006 EPA funded one additional project.

Category 4: Canadian-U.S. Spatial Data Infrastructure Project
Lead - Milo Robinson
Up to $75,000 project award, 1 award
This category may go away.

Category 5: Geographic Information Integration and Analysis
Lead – ???
Up to $??? project award
The funding mechanism for this category changed so it is unclear what the funding level will be in 2007.

Category 6: ????
May add a category to support Geospatial Line of Business initiative.
