St. Mary’s University Spring News
By John Ebert, St. Mary’s University
This spring, ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute) visited the Department of Resource Analysis (RA) at Saint Mary’s University for a first-ever campus-wide (Winona and Minneapolis) RA event. This was an exciting time for RA and the university as approximately 70 people, current learners and alumni, attended the event and was the first time RA held an all-campus gathering.
The evening began with hors d'oeuvres and a department community social, followed by a program with several presentations from ESRI staff. RA was proud to feature Nicole Stecker, one of the department's recent alumni, as the keynote speaker. Nicole and her colleague, Michael Johnson, spoke about the trends and future uses of ESRI software for GIS. They also spoke about new and exciting employment possibilities with ESRI.
To complete the evening, Kurt Swendson presented his final capstone research project. Kurt's project involved a comparative analysis of programming efficiencies for GIS software languages. More about Kurt’s project can found by visiting the following link: http://www.gis.smumn.edu/GradPapers.html
