ESRI Launches New Cartographic Help Site

Adapted from ESRI ArcWatch Newsletter, July 2007

The Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) has launched a new website to help people make better maps. Mapping Center’s goal is to help you make great-looking maps by using the same cartographic concepts that professional cartographers use.

Designed to provide quick answers to mapmaking problems, Mapping Center presents information and sample maps displaying a wide variety of cartographic techniques and effects. The site also gives visitors tips and instructions on how to reproduce the featured effects on their own maps.

Visitors are given options to:

  • View map examples
  • Ask a cartographer questions about map design
  • Join a cartographic blog
  • Find other resources, including “Cartographers’ Favorites” websites, forums, professional organizations, journals and books.

Visit the Mapping Center at: http://mappingcenter.esri.com
