Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota GIS Update
By John Ebert, Saint Mary’s University

The Department of Resource Analysis (RA), Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota has been spearheading a series of GIS-related projects for the Winona Campus’ Facilities and Maintenance Department. Earlier this summer, RA used GPS and advanced survey practices to identify and create infrastructure features, angles, and distances for the newly designed softball and baseball fields. This fall, RA is providing in-house GIS survey assistance for the development of Saint Mary’s new state-of-the-art track and field complex. Staff and learners are conducting the survey, which will be used to make determinations for cut/fill operations later this fall. Data collected will also be housed within the departmental campus IMS system for decision-making purposes.
