Craig wins NSGIC Award

Will Craig received an Outstanding Service Award at the 2007 annual meeting of the National States Geographic Information Council.  Craig is Minnesota’s delegate to NSGIC and was elected to their board of directors in 2005.  At this meeting that term was extended by vote to 2009.

The text of Craig’s award reads:

Will has served on the NSGIC Board of Directors and provided sage advice and clear insights.  He provided counsel to the organization as we began our advocacy efforts in Washington.  He has aggressively worked on Imagery for the Nation and he will be largely responsible for any success we achieve in funding this initiative.

Craig’s response was, “I was only carrying forward the wishes of the Minnesota grassroots.  Participants in the outstate meetings of the Governor’s Council were clear on their need for more current orthophotography.  Wayne Hurley and others were great about documenting that need with specific examples.  Staff people in Congressional offices were sympathetic when I shared those examples of use by their constituents.  I got good responses from every office I visited: Peterson, Klobuchar, Walz, and Coleman.”
