Non-Profit GIS User Group Now Active
By Sally Wakefield, 1000 Friends of Minnesota

Eighteen individuals representing non-profit organizations or interests met on April 30, 2008 at the Rondo Community Outreach Library in St. Paul to eat pizza and talk GIS. This was the first meeting of this group, brought together by 1000 Friends of Minnesota with support from the McKnight Foundation.

The group represents a broad range of interests and expertise. Group members are interested in coming forward and sharing their knowledge with others, forming partnerships and communicating about challenges and successes. A list of potential member resources and a list serve to keep members connected is underway.

The next meeting will be scheduled for mid-summer and will include two interactive presentations.

If you are interested in joining this group, or know someone who is, please contact Sally Wakefield at swakefield@1000fom.org or 651-312-1000 to receive meeting announcements.
