U of M GIS Resources
By Will Craig, Susanna McMaster, and Steven Manson, University of Minnesota

The University of Minnesota has a broad range of geospatial resources. We’ve created a website to help people find the type of resource they want, including people doing geospatial research on campus, curricula at the U of M, and facilities and other resources such as labs and research projects. We’ve been keeping it current over the years, but we were surprised to see how big we’ve become.

  • 88 faculty and staff across 29 units in 9 colleges or institutes
  • 25 research centers
  • 7 student labs expressly for GIS/geospatial use
  • 40+ courses directly related to geospatial research
  • 50+ courses indirectly related to geospatial topics
  • 3 PhD programs
  • 2 MS/MGIS programs
  • 1 graduate minor
  • 1 undergraduate minor

The site gets hundreds of page views, of which a growing number are from off campus. Take a look!
