Broadband Coverage in Minnesota
By Will Craig, University of Minnesota

The Minnesota Department of Commerce has produced a series of maps showing broadband availability across Minnesota. The maps were developed by Connected Nations, a non-profit organization, and are available online at http://www.connectmn.org

PDF maps of counties show types of service available (DSL, cable, etc.) on a background showing roads, water, political subdivision, and state/federal lands. Other county PDF maps show numbers and density of households not served with any service.

The statewide maps are available in PDF, JPG, and interactive formats. The following themes are available:

  • Platform (Fiber, DSL, Cable, Fixed and Mobile Wireless)
  • Single and Multiple Platforms
  • Density of Unserved Households by Census Block
  • Number of Unserved Households by Census Block
  • Download Speeds
  • Upload Speeds
