Where are Americans Moving?

Interactive Map:  Where Americans are Moving
From Forbes.com website

More than 10 million Americans moved from one county to another during 2008. A map at the Forbes website visualizes those moves. Click on any county to see comings and goings: black lines indicate net inward movement; red lines net outward movement.

Hover your mouse over a county on the map to see the name of the county and then click to see the migration lines. Once the lines are drawn, hover your mouse to see the numbers of people in- and out-migrating and the average income per capita of the source and destination counties.

The data used to make the map is from the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS only reports inter-county moves for more than 10 people, so some moves are not shown on the map. For more information about the data, along with a link to free migration database files and a users guide available from the site, see this IRS webpage.
