Summer is finally here!

Spring Workshops

The 2011 GIS/LIS Consortium Spring Workshops event was a success.  This one-day training event was held on May 26th at the University of St. Thomas campus in St. Paul.  There were 8 different workshops and 109 GIS professionals participated.

Annual Report

Starting in 2010, the Consortium’s Outreach Committee has created an annual report to provide a brief overview of the Consortium’s activities and finances for the previous year.  To view the most recent annual report, click HERE.

The Annual Report is split into the following sections:

  • Message from the Board Chair
  • Consortium Highlights
  • Financials
  • Volunteer Opportunities
  • Board of Directors

Facebook and LinkedIn – Additional Networking Opportunities

In February, the Outreach Committee created a Group page for the GIS/LIS Consortium on the networking site  By being a member of this group page, you can network with GIS/LIS members throughout the year.  Currently there are over 60 Group members online and it continues to grow.  While this site, along with the Consortium’s presence on Facebook, is meant to foster networking amongst members throughout the year, the Consortium’s website will continue to be the primary source of information regarding the Consortium and its activities.

Event Grants Available

Each year the Consortium Board sets aside funds to assist GIS/LIS-related activities or events in Minnesota such as the University of Minnesota GIS Student Organization’s annual Career and Networking Fair.  The Consortium can provide limited funding for printing costs, mailing costs, meeting room rental fees, food services, speaker fees and advertisements.  For details and an event grant application, click HERE.

Enjoy your summer and make sure to check us out on Facebook and LinkedIn!
