Workshop Commitment

The above named agrees to instruct a workshop for the MN GIS/LIS Consortium Spring Workshops.

Date: May 20, 2015

Location: University of Minnesota, 420 Blegen Hall- 269 19th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55455. Map

Remote Connections: Four of the workshops will have remote connections to Mankato State University, Moorhead State University and University of Minnesota Duluth.

The compensation for the workshop instruction is $300 per half day workshop or $600 per full day workshop. One stipend is allowed per workshop (regardless of the number of instructors). Lunch, refreshments and parking passes are provided to the instructor free of charge. If payment is declined, the stipend will be donated directly to the Consortium’s Scholarship Fund and is a tax-deductible contribution. Please make a selection below.

Technology Information

  • Computers and Software Requirements – All of the rooms are equipped with a projector and the internet. Instructors will need to provide their own laptop. Classrooms for the hands-on classes have computers loaded with ESRI ArcGIS 10.2 or 10.3 software, extensions and internet connections. If you are teaching a hands-on workshop and would like to use any extra extensions or software, please let us know ASAP.
  • Projectors – Projectors will be available in each room.
  • Internet Connection – Wi-Fi internet is available across the campus. Wi-Fi connection information will be available the day of the workshops. Note that only University computers will be able to connect to the wired network.

Instructor Expectations

  • LaptopInstructors will need to provide their own laptop.
  • Handouts – Each workshop participant should be given a high-quality instructional manual. The purpose of this manual is to provide information should the student want to re-visit the workshop topic at a later time. The manual should contain an outline, lecture notes, copies of slides, important graphics, example scripts or exercises. The manual should also include references for further reading. Please bring your handouts with you to the workshops.

Rules Governing Instructors

The following are the rules governing instructors at Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium Workshops. By signing this Agreement, the instructor consents to and agrees to abide by the following rules:

  1. The instructor warrants that his/her presentation does not violate any proprietary or personal rights of others (including copyright, trademark or privacy rights), is factually accurate and contains nothing defamatory or otherwise unlawful.
  2. The instructor is an independent contractor with respect to the Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium. The instructor agrees that speaker is not an employee, servant, agent, partner or joint venture of the Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium at any time contemplated by this Agreement and shall not represent the instructor’s opinions to be that of the Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium. The instructor at all times shall state that instructor’s opinion is that of instructor only and not of the Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium, and this message shall also be included in any media or other materials used by the instructor.
  3. No order forms for products or services may be included in handout material, though the instructor may provide such forms (upon request) to interested attendees.
  4. Advertising material, commercial promotion, solicitation and sales of any type are prohibited during any part of the presentation.
  5. The instructor agrees to release and hold harmless the Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium, any or all of its officers and members, the officers or employees of the facilities utilized to provide the workshop from any and all liability for damage or loss to his/her goods or property during the workshop. The instructor further agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium from any claim, demand, loss, liability damage or expense arising in any way from the instructor’s performance of services under this Agreement.
  6. This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Minnesota law.

Should Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium cancel due to unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather, acts of God, or any other circumstances beyond their control, Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium will not be responsible for fulfilling the financial agreement. Should the instructor cancel this speaking engagement, the Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium will not be responsible any payment or reimbursement arrangement.
