Sessions Presentations - The submission deadline for Poster presentations is September 23, 2016.

Presentation Types:
Poster Display

  • Chose from the general member poster display or the "open student poster competition".  Please note:  the "open student" poster contest is NOT the 2-yr college Scholarship Contest.  Any enrolled student may participate, there is one winner of this contest. 
  • Display area: 4 ft (height) x 8 ft (width)
  • Project-specific and cartographic exhibits welcome

  • Abstracts cannot exceed 300 words
  • Incomplete abstracts will not be accepted
  • Abstract submission is online only

The 26th Annual Conference and Workshops of the Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium will be held October 26-28, 2016 at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center in Duluth, Minnesota. Workshops will be held Wednesday, October 26, with the conference following on Thursday and Friday. Highlights of the three-day event include:


Sessions Presentations
The Sessions Committee will select presentations to represent levels of expertise and a broad topic base. Selection will be based on the value of the proposed topic to the audience and the quality and clarity of the abstract.

Are you new to speaking, or have an interesting short topic? Try the Lightning round — a quick, 12-minute presentation! The perfect intro to conference speaking, present work in progress, or give a brief overview, leaving the audience with a key point to remember.
Presentation Types:

  • Lightning Round (12 minutes)
  • Individual Presentation (25 minutes)
    • General Topic Presentation
    • Technical Presentation
  • Panel Discussion (60-90 minutes)
  • Product Demonstrations (25 minutes)
  • Poster Display
    • Display area: 4 ft (height) x 8 ft (width)
    • Project-specific and cartographic exhibits welcome
  • Web Map Display
    • Video submission format (.wmv), once an abstract has been accepted

Abstract submission:

  • Abstracts cannot exceed 300 words
  • Incomplete abstracts will not be accepted
  • Abstract submission is online only

Product Demonstrations

Presentations by conference exhibitors that market specific products or services may be accepted as product demonstrations. Information regarding exhibit hall space will be sent to prospective vendors in early May.
Workshops

A combination of half-day and full-day workshops will be offered on Wednesday. Workshop participants can select from a variety of topics, ranging from general introductory issues to specialized technical-focused topics.

Exhibit Hall
The vendor exhibit hall will showcase a redesigned layout and highlight the latest GIS-related hardware and software, GIS products and services. The exhibit hall will be open Thursday and Friday.

Exhibitors’ Reception

Conference registration includes admission to the Exhibitors’ Reception on Thursday evening. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served and a cash bar will be available. The reception will be held in the exhibit hall, providing another opportunity for attendees to visit conference exhibitors. Registration information and workshop descriptions will be available in July. Conference registration includes lunches, evening receptions and all refreshment breaks.

Registration fees will be as follows:
Half-day Workshops

$135 if payment received by October 7
$170 if payment received after October 7
$180 if payment is made On Site

Conference

$275 if payment received by October 7
$310 if payment received after October 7
$330 if payment is made On Site

Student Rate (includes all presentations and lunches) $45

Session and Poster Presenter Rate
$230 if payment received by October 7
$310 if payment received after October 7

Presenter Rate
Session and poster presenters will receive a $45 discount from the full conference rate if payment is received by October 7.

A maximum of one discount is available for each individual presentation. If more than one person will be presenting in a session, it is the responsibility of the session presenters to coordinate who will apply for the discount. Additionally, no discounts are available for product demonstrations.
