|MN GIS/LIS Awards|
The Consortium recognizes stellar individuals in the state through three awards, one aimed at each stage of a professional career.
The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a person (or organization) who has made significant contributions in the fields of GIS or LIS that have improved the quality of life for the people of Minnesota. This award is given periodically when warranted.
The Polaris Leadership Award recognizes active, established leaders in the geospatial community who are inspiring and leading us through their contributions, energy, and creativity. Up to three awards are made each year.
The Distinguished Educator Award recognizes active educators each year (K-12 or Higher Education) who have demonstrated leadership, creativity, and enthusiasm for the effective use of geography and GIS to inspire, engage and prepare students for participation in the workforce and geospatial community.
Scholarship Awards - Each Minnesota post-secondary college and university having a recognized GIS program selects a student to be recognized as a GIS/LIS Outstanding Student Representative. This is an honorary award and provides no monetary support. All Outstanding Students are given free registration for the annual conference. Cash support and awards are given to those who compete for the best presentation prizes.
