MN GIS/LIS Polaris Leadership Award Winner

Catherine Hansen is an active, established leader who brings energy and enthusiasm to every GIS activity and event in which she participates. In addition to serving multiple years on the MN GIS/LIS Board of Directors, she is also active in teaching workshops to promote GIS knowledge. Teaching and mentoring comes naturally to Catherine which has served her well in her 11 years at the University of St. Thomas, 12 years at the University of Minnesota, and 16 years in GIS consulting work. Many graduates from her classes have gone on to earn jobs utilizing GIS and are now active members within the GIS industry. This is a testament to Catherine’s success. Catherine has demonstrated leadership, energy and creativity within and well beyond her job duties at St. Thomas, the University of Minnesota, and as a GIS consultant — which all make her an ideal candidate for this award.
