MN GIS/LIS Polaris Leadership Award Winner

David Bitner

David Bitner has contributed to the Minnesota GIS community, to worldwide humanitarian relief efforts, and also to international open source software and data initiatives. He has made significant contributions through his work as the GIS Coordinator at the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), his work at the University of Minnesota, his contributions to the local and international Open Source community, his work as the Chair of the MetroGIS Coordinating Committee and work through his own company, dbSpatial. Key among David’s long list of contributions is his volunteer work. David recognizes and promotes the benefits of open data, open standards, and open source in GIS as being key components to efficient and effective government and humanitarian services.
