Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium Annual Conference Call for Papers

This is a call for abstracts of presentations, panel discussions, posters and product demonstrations to be considered as part of the 18th Annual Conference of the Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium, October 1-3, 2008, in Rochester, Minnesota.

The objective of the conference is to provide GIS/LIS related informational and educational opportunities for anyone in business, government, or education interested in spatial analysis technologies.

Presentations are invited that address the broad subjects of interest to GIS/LIS. Click here to view Topics of interest for the conference. All GIS related presentations will be considered.

The Sessions committee will select presentations to represent a wide range of interests and levels of expertise. Selection will be based on the value of the proposed topic to the audience and the clarity of the abstract. Remember, a clear, concise abstract is your best ticket to a logical track placement and a well-attended session. Everyone submitting an abstract will be contacted by the Sessions Committee to both confirm their submission, and later (if applicable) to inform them of acceptance into the Sessions schedule.

Five types of presentations will be considered:

  • Individual presentation, allotted 25 minutes
  • Student presentation, allotted 25 minutes
  • Panel discussion, allotted 60-90 minutes
  • Poster, display area four feet high by eight feet wide
(both project-specific and cartographic exhibits are welcome)
  • Product Demonstrations, allotted 25 minutes*

The diversity of the program reflects the variety of abstracts submitted. If your area of interest has been underrepresented in previous years, you are encouraged to submit or recruit applicable session abstracts. Please share this information among your colleagues.

Abstracts must be limited to 300 words, and must include: presentation title, type of presentation, and author information including complete contact information. A brief bio must accompany each submission and will only be used to introduce the presenter. Incomplete abstracts will not be accepted.

The submission deadline for all presentation types is May 16, 2008.

To submit an abstract for a presentation, panel discussion, poster or product demonstration, please fill in the abstract application located here.
