The Community area is where you will interact with other MN GIS/LIS members. Within the Community, you will be able to message other members, join groups, make connections and create or subscribe to blogs. To access the Community, log in and select Manage Profile.

The MN GIS/LIS website has its own online messaging system. You can send and receive messages to/from other MN GIS/LIS members and Groups you are a member of. You can edit your Messaging settings in Preferences. You can also access Messages from the quick links on the right side of the page.

To view your inbox, select Manage Profile from the right navigation menu and then select Messaging or simply select Messages from the right navigation menu.

Your inbox will show all received and sent messages and will allow you to send messages to your connections or other members. Click on the hyperlinks (Your Inbox, Sent Messages, Message a Member) to open your inbox or send a message.

To make sure you know when messages are sent to you, set your Preferences to email you when a new message arrives in Your Inbox.

There are several MN GIS/LIS Groups that you may be a member of. You will have access to the Group Member Directory, files, photos, calendars, Blogs and other features within each Group. You can edit your Group settings in Preferences.

To view your Groups, select Manage Profile from the right navigation menu and then select Groups or simply select Groups from the right navigation menu.

You may set a number of Preferences regarding your Group settings. You can select to receive updates when events are added, a new member joins and more. You may also opt to receive the Group Digest - the group newsletter.

 – Click on this icon to send a Message to all group members, subscribe to the Group Newsletter or leave the group.

– Click on this icon to view the Group's Directory, Calendar, Blogs or Photo Gallery.

Three levels of referral are displayed. You may see who you referred, who they referred, as well as who was referred by your referrals' referrals. Mouse-over the profile icon to view the date the member joined and click the icon to view the member's profile.

To make a referral, select Refer A Friend and complete the simple form to send an email to your colleague.

Blog Subscriptions

If you are a member of a Group, you may be interested in participating in a Group Blog. You can manage your Blog preferences in this section, but you first must subscribe to the Blog within the Group.
