The NE MN GIS User Group met Wednesday, November 20th at the Minnesota Interagency Fire Center in Grand Rapids, MN. A total of 45 GIS users from various city, county, federal, and tribal agencies as well as private businesses throughout the Northern part of the state attended the event. The morning began with an excellent presentation given by MnGeo Director, Sandi Stroud. Her presentation was followed by 4 additional and very intriguing presentations on various GIS-related topics, including ArcGIS API for Python, LiDAR Forest Inventory in Minnesota, using ArcPad to run line work for timber sales, and Esri’s QuickCapture application. After lunch, an additional presentation was given on the use of barcodes and custom URL schemes with Esri’s Survey123 application. Immediately following, the group was given an engaging tour of the MIFC facility by one of the staff members at MIFC. For the remainder of the afternoon, Sam Giebner, Senior Planner with St. Louis County, gave a terrific workshop to the group on the basics of Python in ArcGIS Pro. A very special thank you to the MN GIS/LIS Consortium for funding an event grant that helped to make this event possible.
