ABOUT THE CONFERENCE


CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

The 29th Annual Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium Conference and Workshops will be held October 2nd-4th, 2019 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. This year’s conference features regionally and nationally-known keynote speakers, numerous instructor-led workshops, technical sessions, panel discussions, technology demonstrations, project updates, and much more!  All events are geared toward GIS/LIS students and professionals who are interested in refining their skills and learning more about GIS/LIS technologies in Minnesota and beyond.

Highlights Include:

  • Instructor-led workshops, featuring a variety of topics
  • The ESRI Hands On Learning Lab (HOLL).  The HOLL is a training resource provided and developed by ESRI Training Services.  The lab is an excellent way to introduce ArcGIS® software users to a variety of ESRI® solutions and training opportunities while learning to use ESRI software
  • A MN-specific GeoMentor Program that pairs GIS Professionals (GeoMentors) with MN teachers who are interested in using GIS in their classrooms
  • A Vendor Reception featuring complimentary hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and a variety of prizes
  • Conference break-out sessions covering topics such as: Remote Sensing, Utilities, Natural Resources, ArcGIS Online, Drones and much more
  • Student assistantships which waive student registration fees in exchange for assistance throughout the conference
  • A Student Poster Competition for all higher-education GIS students, featuring a poster gallery
  • Numerous networking opportunities including entertainment events on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, as well as a fun-run on Friday Morning
  • A Mentor Program that matches GIS professionals (Mentors) with students or young professionals (Mentees) who are looking for career advice, resume review, professional stories, or conference navigation
  • A Vendor Hall showcasing up to 35 different Non-Profit and Professional Organizations in the GIS/LIS fields
