GIS/LIS User Groups in Minnesota and Region
As a service to the GIS/LIS community, the Consortium will list any user groups or Minnesota chapters of related professional groups known to us. Anoka County GIS User Group, Anoka County, MN
The group meets monthly at an Anoka County are location. The group consists of the county, cities, townships, school districts and utilities that are in Anoka County. Anyone interested in attending a meeting or wanting more information can contact John Slusarczyk,


ASPRS, Western Great Lakes Region
The Western Great Lakes Region of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) helps users of 'image maps' understand their origin and application. Current information and membership can be found at


Dakota County GIS Users Group
This group meets quarterly at the Western Service Center in Apple Valley. The group consists of the county, cities, school districts, SWCD and utilities that are in Dakota County. The group focuses on the potential uses of existing and emerging GIS applications and technologies as well as the use of local GIS data. Interested persons should email the Office of GIS:


Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA), Minnesota Chapter 
The Minnesota Chapter of the GITA normally offers 2-3 technical meetings to members and non-members annually, and a scholarship program, among other activities. You can read more about the Chapter events at: Information about the national GITA activities may be obtained at


Goodhue County GIS Users Group
Members of this group meet quarterly, pay annual participation fees, and collaborate on GIS projects. Members include the county, cities, and other agencies within Goodhue County such as the Prairie Island Indian Community and Goodhue County Cooperative Electric Association. Hennepin County GIS Users Group
This group meets quarterly at various locations throughout Hennepin County. The Group's mission is to provide a forum for communicating ideas, resolving problems, and increasing the effectiveness of GIS use and Hennepin County's digital basemap data. The group is open to all GIS users - individuals, corporations, and government agencies - who work within the geographic area of Hennepin County. 


Minnesota ESRI Users Group

Northeastern Minnesota GIS Users Group
The Northeastern MN GIS User Group is made up of GIS professionals working in both public and private entities throughout Northeastern Minnesota. It is open to anyone and is non-software specific. Quarterly meetings usually includes presentations or tours, and are held in different locations throughout the region. For more information, please visit the group website at


Pine to Prairie GIS User Group (former Outstate GIS User Group)
The Pine to Prairie GIS User Group has evolved from the former Outstate GIS User Group that was hosted by Otter Tail County GIS. Meetings are held quarterly and include informational and educational presentations, networking opportunities, as well as project and product demonstrations. Ramsey County GIS Users Group, Ramsey County, MN
Members of this group meet monthly, pay dues, and contract for GIS data updates, user guides, and other improvements. Members include the county, cities, townships, watershed districts, neighborhood groups, and school districts, etc. They maintain links to the North Metro I-35W Corridor Coalition, Metro GIS, and other regional bodies. Rice County GIS Users Group - Rice County, MN
The Rice County GIS Users Group is comprised of GIS users from Rice County departments, cities within Rice County, and other organizations that use Rice County’s GIS data. Meetings are held approximately every three months at the Rice County Government Services Building. Scott County Users Group - Scott County, MN
The group consists of the County, cities, Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, private utility companies, MN/DOT, GIS consultants and a watershed district in Scott County. The group discusses topics of interest and focuses on developing partnerships for the exchange and use of local GIS data and tools. Visit our website for more information.


South Central Minnesota GIS User Group
A partnership of public and private entities dedicated to enhancing the quality and capability of GIS in our region and strengthening the communities and individuals we serve. Website: 


Southeastern Minnesota GIS Users Group
The Southeastern Minnesota GIS Users Group covers a geographic area including the 11 county region of the Association of Minnesota Counties (AMC) District #9 which includes Rice, Goodhue, Steele, Freeborn, Mower, Dodge, Olmsted, Wabasha, Fillmore, Winona, and Houston counties.  All people interested in GIS technology are welcome.  The Users Group meets every 2-3 months in different locations around the 11-county region. Topics of discussion include joint project opportunities, networking, data sharing, and GIS tips and tricks. Meetings will also include presentations by the host agency, product demonstrations, training sessions, and discussion of training needs. Southwest Minnesota GIS User Group
The group consists of various public and private entities in southwest Minnesota. The group meets quarterly at locations throughout the region. The host is selected at the previous meeting who then leads the next meeting with a presentation on a topic of interest. State Agency GIS Collaborative
GIS users from state agencies gather on a regular basis to share information, plan training and networking events, and collaborate on spatial services. Membership is open to any state agency employee. For more information, see:


Twin Cities Mapserver Users Group
The Twin Cities Mapserver Users Group is a group of Mapserver and other Open Source GIS software users that get together on the third Tuesday of each month in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Minnesota area. For further information contact David Bitner at 612-725-6156. Website:


Washington County GIS Users Group, Washington County, MN
This group meets quarterly at a Washington County location. Northland Area GIS Users Group, Ashland, WI
